Fear

Fear is a strange thing. And a powerful one. Fear is one of the greatest persuasive tools, if you want someone to do your homework, and they don’t want to, fear can really come in handy. Or if you want to persuade anyone to do anything, a little fear, and you can almost always get what you want. The trick is, knowing what people fear. Some people fear the dark, others fear for their life. There are millions of things to be afraid of. And each person fears something different. I think a lot of what you fear and what you don’t fear, depends on how you grow up. If you grow up watching scary movies, by the time you are a teenager scary movies don’t seem that scary anymore. Because most of the scary movies out there are the same plot with a story and characters. On the other hand, If you were to take a kid who gets scared from just the previews of the movie, and have them watch a show like "What Lies Beneath" or something. They would be screaming like a girl at the end of the show. Another thing that makes people afraid is suspension. When you know something bad will happen, and you know it is soon, but you don’t know exactly when, then all the sudden it pops out and bites you in the face. It’s like death. You know it’s coming but you don’t know when, then it pops out and kills you. Then some fears you are just born with. Like phobias. There are so many kinds of phobias it’s not even funny. More scary. There is phobia of heights, spiders, the dark, closed in areas, water, being alone, night time, and a million others. One of my favorite phobias is the phobia of dolls. Dolls are scary things. The old looking dolls with the glass eyes that seem to be always watching you. And no matter what you can’t escape them. For instance my brother is afraid of dolls. It is the funniest thing to like put a doll on his pillow then he’ll walk in there, and you can hear him yelling all over the house. I think that is why he never goes into my sisters room anymore. Fear is also great entertainment. For example the TV show Fear Factor. Millions of people love to watch to that show because of the crazy freaky things they will face the contestants with. I think most of the things that make us scared, are things that would lead to death. Fear of heights, you will fall and die, fear of spiders, you will get bitten and die, the dark, something in the darkness will kill you. Closed in areas, you won’t be able to get out and you will die. Even dolls. Like Chucky, the evil doll that kills people. Or just because they are always watching you, and will watch you till death. Fear and death walk hand in hand. Like Yoda said "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering." And suffering eventually leads to death.
